Speakr

At Ysgol Y Castell, we use Speakr every morning to give the pupils a chance to let our Staff know how they feel!

To learn more, please see the following video

We have a Speakr display in our hall where we continually monitor and display the % of children which have chosen a specific emotion.

Saib a Symud

At Ysgol Y Castell we have intergrated ‘Saib a Symud’ into our daily routine. Saib a Symud is a mindfulness strategy developed by a local company ‘Gwylan’.

Saib a Symud allows our pupils and staff to have an opportunity to reflect, smile and relax during the busy school day.

Burns Reading Dogs

We are very fortunate that at Ysgol Y Castell we have a visiting reading dog from Burns Pet Nutrition. Our reading dog is called Fernley and visits us on a weekly basis.

Walk a Mile

At Ysgol Y Castell we have incorporated a daily mile walk into our school routine.

Walk a Mile is where children have fifteen minutes every day to run or jog, at their own pace, with their classmates, making them fitter, healthier, and more able to concentrate in the classroom.

Additional Learning Needs

Ysgol Y Castell is an inclusive school where we value the abilities and achievements of all our pupils. All children are values, respected and welcomed to our school. We support children’s learning and aim to ensure that they are included in all school activities.

We work closely with a variety of agencies such as the Educational Psychologist, Advisory teachers, Speech and Language Therapists and Behaviour Support Team to name but a few.

The school offers a variety of interventions to ensure children can access the curriculum and are supported appropriately.

For further information or advice, please speak to your child’s class teacher or contact our Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator (ALNCo) Mrs Williams.
